A Birch Grove in the woods and a Loon on a quiet Pond are yours if you select this pleasant little hike just a few miles from the booming metropolis called Bangor, the gateway to eastern Maine.

Directions from Bangor

Cross any of the 3 bridges over the mighty Penobscot into Bangor's twin city of Brewer. From the eastern shore of the Penobscot drive approximately 5 miles south on Route 1a, then proceed right onto the Copeland Hill Road. Drive for about 1 mile to the intersection with the Wiswell Road. Bear right on the Wiswell road and travel about 3/4 of a mile to the Fields Pond Road. Take a left onto the Fields Pond Road and drive until you find the Maine Audubon Society Fields Pond Nature Center in Holden (free of charge).
